These start-ups specialized in unusual connected objects

With the advent of digital and information technologies, numerous French and international start-ups are developing innovative applications and connected objects. Facilitating the daily lives of individuals, these connected objects are often original. Equipped with various applications aimed at the general public, they also allow start-ups to finance ambitious projects.

Xiaomi and its connected water purifier

A pioneer in smartphones, connected bracelets, and even connected sneakers, the giant Xiaomi will soon launch a connected water purifier! The Chinese start-up, founded in 2010, with 7,500 employees and $12 billion in revenue, aims to conquer the Asian and Indian markets with a water purifier connected to the domestic electrical network, responsible for purifying water and sending data to a terminal. Priced at 200 euros, the device is currently not intended for the European market.

Mother, the versatile sensor

After Nabaztag, the connected rabbit that informed individuals about the weather and changed color when receiving an email, Indian inventor Rafi Haladjian innovates with Mother. This versatile digital object allows monitoring several activities via sensors called cookies. Think you suffer from sleep disorders? Place a Motion Cookie under your mattress to analyze your nighttime rest. Not sure if you’re hydrating properly? Place a Motion Cookie on your water bottle, and you’ll have all the information you need!

The connected accessory by Sevenhugs

Sevenhugs, a French start-up, raised nearly 1.5 million euros to design innovative connected objects. Born in 2014, it has designed an accessory that analyzes its users’ sleep. With a focus on well-being, the device is also equipped with multi-purpose sensors that measure humidity, air quality, or temperature differences in each room.

ORA glasses by Optinvent

Another innovative French start-up based in Rennes, Optinvent, is already behind the ORA connected glasses, which aim to compete with Google and its connected 3D glasses. Its campaign raised over 100,000 euros thanks to versatile connected glasses dedicated to sports activities, photography, video conferencing, or logistics.

Netatmo and its Welcome project

Awarded for 3 years by the CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards in all categories, the French start-up Netatmo has been continuously innovating since its inception. Launched in 2011, the company has just commercialized its new connected object project: Welcome. This unique camera has facial recognition technology and connects directly from a smartphone. Capable of recognizing both the inhabitants of a house and intruders, Welcome is compatible with iOS and Android and is marketed at a price of 199 euros.

The Smart Helmet by LifeBEAM

The Israeli start-up LifeBEAM, specializing in high-tech sensors, is concerned about safety. Its connected Smart Helmet is intended for cyclists and serves to measure heart rate, speed, or the number of calories burned. Fully compatible via iOS and Android systems, the connected helmet is also compatible with various sports applications such as Runtastic and Mapmyrun, which allow you to trace your route from a GPS and evaluate your performance.
