Spice Up Your Content for Better Engagement

The answer to the question of how to attract customers, consumers is essentially the recurring question of any business moment: how do we achieve the best possible result? How do we get the best possible result at the lowest cost? How do we engage employees to make them ambassadors? How do we…? The answer to the question breeds a strategy, decision-making, consultations. The same goes for your content.

Every day, you publish quality content and only see minimal results far from what you hoped for. You patiently await a comment, content sharing, or a simple “thank you.” However, nothing happens!

Most new bloggers and marketers often wrongly blame their content for the lack of engagement it receives. One crucial ingredient not to overlook is the visual component. Enriching your content with videos, images, comics, infographics, presentations posted on Slideshare, Tumblr animations, etc., and you’ll see the difference.

Your content doesn’t have to be dull. By incorporating visual elements, you can add zest to your website or blog. Want proof? Look at the skyrocketing success of social media sites like Pinterest and Instagram.

Pinterest, launched in March 2010, quickly gained traffic and experienced a 1047% increase in unique visitors since its inception. Instagram, on the other hand, started in 2010 and grew its user base to 130 million users with 1 billion “likes” on Facebook every day.

Let’s take another striking example! I could write a whole paragraph describing the new “red velvet” cake from the local bakery, or I could simply show it to you using the image below.

I’m not sure if you’ll read the entire paragraph and be convinced to want to taste it! However, I’m sure that by looking at the visual, you’ll want to devour it!

According to a StatisticBrain study, you have eight seconds to capture the audience’s attention. You can use compelling words, but it’s clear that with visuals, you have a better chance of attracting attention.

Through visuals, you create a connection with your reader. They evoke feelings more quickly than words and can convey a story. For example, check out this infographic that received approximately 350,000 visitors in 30 days, explaining how a car engine works in a rather engaging way.

How to spice up your content using Visual Marketing?

  1. Use “Everyday People”

Using visuals with real people allows your audience to identify and reinforces the sense of recognition.

  1. Be Creative

Do you have a smartphone? You can just as easily be the photographer! Social media platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are very handy for showcasing your skills as an amateur photographer. Using your visuals adds more personality to your content. In the end, it’s the human touch that makes the business, not the other way around.

  1. Create Your Own Interactive Visuals

Not sure about your photography skills? You can turn to new online technologies that allow you to create your own interactive visuals quite easily. Try Visme or Canva to create your presentation, visual with text, advertising banners, infographics, etc.

  1. Easily Interpretable

Information in graphical and visual forms is more easily interpretable and can be easily shared. Also, play around with the size of your images!

  1. Think Outside the Box

You know all about “selfies,” right? What better way to add a human dimension to your visual? Here’s a good example of a fun selfie.

Of course, the impact can be stronger if you involve celebrities. Also, take note of how “non-celebrities” do it.

More and more online advertisers are using sketches and similar illustrations to convey their messages to the public. Additionally, by involving their audience, they connect with their customers and prospects, playing on belonging and attachment to their brands and products.
