The Replication of Ideas

For good ideas to have maximum impact, they should ideally be reusable by other departments or domains than those for which they were originally intended. Is idea replication a good way to start a business?

Saving time also involves seeking out ideas developed in another company or department and seeing if it’s possible to implement them, thereby reaping the benefits of innovation without having to set up a time-consuming project group. It will require creating real cohesion and opening up new opportunities to create added value.

The Replication of Ideas: A Real Opportunity

The replication of ideas remains a must in terms of Participative Innovation. While finding a new idea may be challenging, sometimes all it takes is to see if an idea implemented in one department can be replicated in another. However, knowing how to duplicate it is crucial but implies that all departments are informed about innovative ideas. Therefore, it is essential to create a system that allows access to ideas from others. Everyone can thus draw inspiration from and enrich themselves with others’ ideas. It will be possible to solicit their help in implementing them. To facilitate the communication of ideas, the company’s intranet or a dedicated website can be used. These platforms gather all ideas, present all facets of integration, the difficulties encountered, and the positive outcomes of the idea for the department or the company.

Brainstorming Sessions

It is also possible to organize brainstorming sessions with the author to see how it could be duplicated. Specific events or challenges related to idea replication can also be launched to replicate them successfully. They provide the opportunity to communicate about the best practices of different departments and to look at the ideas already implemented. If an idea is replicated in one sector, you can also communicate and highlight it to other Participative Innovation managers. They can then see if it is possible to replicate them in other entities.

It fosters a cultural rapprochement between the “base” and the “top.” It thus offers the opportunity for both to come closer, to mingle – without hierarchy – around a table, to discuss ongoing projects, and to work together to generate new ideas, conducive to development as well as team cohesion.

The Magic Formula of Participative Innovation!

P = 3S + PSE + ABC

  • 3S: I provide Meaning, Support, and Monitoring. Don’t forget the 4th S of Smile.
  • PSE: I contribute to the Social and Economic Performance of the company by focusing on the result and the success of the employees.
  • ABC: Managing differently and participatively:
    • applaud the Boldness and initiative of employees,
    • adopt a posture of Benevolence by welcoming and valuing good ideas,
    • live by the motto “I say what I do and I do what I say”.
