Recruitment- Are you sure you have an effective LinkedIn profile?

Ok, seen and reviewed, you’ll say? The fact remains that nearly 70% of the profiles present on LinkedIn are poorly informed, even unsuited to this format. To be effective, you must be as relevant as possible when you create or update your LinkedIn profile, because beyond a network platform facilitating networking, it has become the hunting ground for recruiters! So, ready for a reminder?

France is the 6th largest market in the world for LinkedIn, and the second in Europe, in number of users after the United Kingdom. When the French office opened in 2011, there were 2 million members. In April 2023, LinkedIn claimed more than 26 million members in France. The platform has seen an increase in the number of members of 20% over the past two years. In France, it is estimated that between 12 and 13.5 million the number of active users monthly on LinkedIn.

Here are 7 fundamentals from our experience to have an effective profile on LinkedIn:

1 – Work on the “Title” of your profile

We recommend that you choose a title related to your goals (job search, business, etc.) in order to be as precise as possible with regard to your positioning. Feel free to highlight an area of expertise or to bring out your personality.

2 – Add a succinct, yet impactful “Summary/Summary”

Highly recommended, it should allow any reader to understand in 20 seconds what you do today and what you aspire to.

3 – Specify your “Skills/Skills” to facilitate research

Think SEO! Beyond your name, LinkedIn searches are done with keywords, just like on a search engine. As you will have understood, it is up to you to sprinkle your profile with well-chosen words and you will appear more easily at the top of the search results.

4 – Put a current photo, but not too personal

Even if the content is important, the photo remains essential, because even if we are on the web, we are first and foremost addressing people. Do not put a vacation photo either to avoid the connotation too personal, but a simple photo on a white background can be largely sufficient.

Remember also that profiles with photos are viewed on average 21 times more than others! Add a professional photo. This will increase the credibility of your profile and help you stand out. You also have the option of inserting a background to personalize your profile.

5 – Radiate outside of LinkedIn with your other links

If you want to increase the impact of your presence on LinkedIn, think about filling in the url of your website, your X account or your blog on your profile.

6 – Join Groups to chat and expand your network

This is to show that you want to exchange and share with your peers in your industry, your areas of expertise or interests.

7 – Develop and optimize its network

We recommend that you focus on the quality of the connections.

Your LinkedIn network should reflect the ecosystem to which you belong, and your network can be complementary.
