Eco-friendly innovations for a better life

How can we improve our quality of life? Entrepreneurs are constantly exploring ideas that could enhance our daily lives. Let’s pay attention to the new innovations that have the potential to transform our routines.

1. Pi-Pop: Electric Bikes Without Batteries!

STEE, an electronics company in Olivet (Loiret), offers an electric bike that doesn’t need to be recharged, thanks to the innovative technology of supercapacitors. Weighing 20 kilograms, this bike incorporates supercapacitors that store energy from the cyclist’s effort and release it as electric assistance when needed. It operates on a self-charging system, with a blue box at the rear of the bike capturing and storing energy generated while pedaling. STEE plans to manufacture an additional hundred units and aims to produce a thousand within a year. The bikes, priced at 1,995 euros, will be distributed through a partnership with the Boulanger retail chain.

2. Tesla Superchargers Installed at Casino Supermarkets and Hypermarkets

The Casino Group will install Tesla Superchargers in the parking lots of its supermarkets and hypermarkets. The first station is set to be operational in the fall of 2022 in Annecy (Haute-Savoie). The Casino Group has 85 Géant Casino hypermarkets and 337 Casino Supermarkets. About thirty more stations are expected to be created in the future, operating 24/7 with eight to twenty charging stations offering a power of 250 kW. These superchargers will allow Tesla Model 3 owners to charge their cars for 15 minutes, providing a range of 275 kilometers. Importantly, some of these stations are not exclusive to Tesla customers, as 16 pilot stations accept electric vehicles from other brands since February 2022.

3. Decarbonized Airplane: Will it Take Flight in Toulouse?

The 42 signatory states of the “Toulouse Declaration” on February 4 have called on global partners to work together to achieve carbon neutrality by the 41st assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), scheduled for late September. Launched under the French presidency of the European Union, the “Toulouse Declaration” aims to encourage measures to achieve a carbon-neutral aviation sector by 2050. The signatories include 27 EU states, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Morocco, and Georgia. Numerous organizations and companies, including airports, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and energy companies, have also endorsed the declaration. This declaration, signed in the aerospace capital of Toulouse, where Airbus is headquartered, seeks an ambitious long-term goal for international aviation: zero net carbon emissions by 2050.

These are just a few examples of the many eco-friendly innovations that are being developed. As these innovations become more widespread, they have the potential to make a real difference in our lives and our planet.
