Some dressing etiquette tips for the entrepreneur

Clothing is very important in the entrepreneurial world. Even though they say “you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover,” it turns out that outward appearance is very important for your meetings and your image. However, some entrepreneurs tend to overlook this point, wearing just a classic suit and tie. Here are some fashion tips for entrepreneurs’ dress.

A good portion of men are overwhelmed by fashion. Indeed, women generally have much more experience in this area and manage to obtain an image that is both professional and feminine. In truth, fashion is not that complicated and you don’t have to be up-to-date or broke to know how to dress well. Effectively, a few tips are largely enough to embellish the image you want.

1/ Wear clothes that fit you

The era of oversized suits and baggy shirts from the ’90s is gone. Today, it’s crucial to wear clothes that fit properly, from pants to jackets. Don’t hesitate to tailor your pants or sleeves and choose the right size. Wearing a size 41 shirt when you’re actually a size 37 makes you look like a child borrowing clothes from his father. Be honest with your body and wear the right clothes, even if loose clothing may seem to hide imperfections. Sometimes, clothes may fit perfectly, but you might feel uncomfortable as they restrict your movements. Ask yourself, why would you need to make large movements if you’re not engaging in sports?

2/ The accessories

Accessories can be tricky if not used correctly. They can reflect your personality, but overdoing it can make you less credible. Opt for simple accessories like a watch with a leather strap or a scarf around your neck. Forget about flashy gold chains and overly large bracelets.

3/ Classics are key

Stick to dark colors. Avoid bright colors like orange for your shirts and wacky patterns like a Garfield tie. Every entrepreneur should have a black suit, well-cut white Oxford-type shirts, a pair of suede shoes, loafers, good jeans, and simple but upscale shoes. Get good addresses and check the quality of the textures with your fingers. Going to a tailor would be perfect, the cost will be higher but it is an investment that is worth it.

Unlike the opposite sex, some men are afraid of trying things on in a store and then not buying anything. It is true that men can sometimes be direct but it is a reflex to suppress, one must take part in the game of shopping.

Last tip, don’t rack your brain trying to find a style or the right colors, keep it simple. Anyway, once you have worn good clothes and found the right advice you will not go back and fashion will become a mastered tool.
