New features for filling out fields
Now, working with digital forms is even more efficient and secure. It is possible to create and assign different recipient roles for filling out fields to simplify the workflow of business documents. In future updates, developers will expand the functionality by adding the ability to define recipient roles with restrictions as well as electronic signatures.
In addition, version 7.3 brings more pre-made fields for faster form creation: Date and time with multiple display options, postal code, and credit card.
SmartArt graphics
It is now possible to insert SmartArt elements into documents, spreadsheets, and presentations to quickly create a visual representation of your ideas. Here are some examples of SmartArt types offered: list, process, workflow, hierarchy, images, etc.
Document protection
Version 7.3 brings another option to password-protect text documents and at the same time only allow certain actions in the file: read, fill out forms, comment, or track changes.
Unicode and LaTeX equations
In the document editor, it is possible to create equations using Unicode and LaTeX syntax.
Improved spreadsheets
ONLYOFFICE developers make working in spreadsheets even more convenient by implementing the Spyglass window function, which allows you to inspect, verify, or confirm calculations and formula results in large files. This way, you don’t have to scroll or go back and forth to different parts of a spreadsheet.
New formulas
Making your calculations even more efficient using new formulas becomes a simple formality: TEXTBEFORE, TEXTAFTER, TEXTSPLIT, VSTACK, HSTACK, TOROW, TOCOL, WRAPROWS, WRAPCOLS, TAKE, DROP, CHOOSEROWS, and CHOOSECOLS.
Other useful improvements include the ability to import data from local XML files as well as add links between multiple spreadsheets using a copy-paste function. This last option, Paste Link, is available to users of the ONLYOFFICE Workspace productivity platform.
Special paste for slides
The new version of ONLYOFFICE allows you to use the keyboard shortcuts for Special Paste to work faster with inserting slides into your presentations. Among the available options are: use the destination theme, keep the source formatting, or photo.
User experience improvements
Interface updates have been made to provide a smoother user experience:
- Show/hide left and right panels in the View tab
- Equation shortcut bar
- Presets for inserting horizontal/vertical text boxes
- Grid settings available in the View tab and the slide context menu, and smart guides in the presentation editor
